Scarecrows Follow Etiquette

Farm Fatale is a story of five (field) scarecrows who lost their jobs after the environmental catastrophe on the planet. The fields on which they used to work got destroyed by an inadequate treatment of the soil, water, and air. So now, they are in an artificial, isolated space, which bears a resemblance to a farm. They live together, each of them with their respective problems which they cannot forget. They broadcast their own radio program, still dignified despite the circumstances. The atmosphere among them is almost ideal - they respect each other, respect the nature, they don’t interrupt each other, don’t raise their voices, but carefully listen to each other. In that world, it is wonderful to have and display emotions, and they are not ashamed to do so, on the contrary - they freely share their feelings. As for the work, the scarecrows are industrious, share ideas, and they always assume their responsibility for everything. Everyone is welcomed to join them, and they greet everybody with song and smile on their masks. Their only bitter enemy is a neighbour who is mercilessly destroying the nature with pesticides, GMO seeds, and abuses animals. Although they entertained some radical ideas as to how to deal with him, they decided to go with song, as their most powerful weapon.

Oh, well, what’s funny?

It was interesting to observe the audience, who were divided and openly expressed their impressions. Half of them laughed out loud, while the other half openly wondered what was funny. True, the scene in which the scarecrows are interviewing the last bee in the world, while white android fluffy chicken is swaying by their side, made us cry and laugh at the same time. The performance received rounds of applause and was followed by a discussion moderated by Filip Vujošević in the foyer of Terazije Theatre.
