SHERMIN LANGHOFF has been the artistic director of the Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin since 2013, her directorship has currently been prolonged until 2026. After her first career as editor in a publishing house, she worked as assistant director and producer for many years in film with renowned directors like Fatih Akin. After first encounters with theatre at the Volksbühne am Rosa Luxemburg Platz she continued her artistic work as curator at Berlin's Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) theatres from 2003 to 2008. In 2008 Langhoff founded the Ballhaus Naunynstraße in Berlin's Kreuzberg district and established the concept of post-migrant theatre there until 2013. Under her artistic directorship in 2014 and 2016, the Gorki was voted “Theatre of the Year” by the German-speaking critics in Theater heute magazine's survey and Gorki productions have been recognized with invitations to the prestigious German Theatertreffen and several international festivals. Shermin Langhoff received many awards for her personal achievements in culture and arts including the Bundesverdienstkreuz (Federal Cross of Merit).
